Course Description: This course serves as an orientation and basic training on Business Center- Heavy Construction Edition, which provides one interface for modeling and data management. This course is classroom-based.

Course Description: This course provides instruction on the use of the Corridor tools available in Business Center - Heavy Construction Edition including the new Intersection Tool and the Corridor Mass Haul Analysis Tools. This course is classroom-based.

Learning Objectives:

  • Creating and Editing Horizontal and Vertical Alignments, Corridors, and Corridor Templates
  • Managing Material Layers
  • Defining Strata Layers on a Corridor Site
  • Reviewing Surfaces to Check for Accuracy
  • Generating Reports
  • Creating and Editing Intersections with the new Intersection Tool
  • Analyze Corridors to Determine Most Efficient way to Redistribute Materials from Cut Zones to Fill Zones
  • Open Mass Haul Diagram to Graphically Analyze Mass Haul
  • Create Haul Routes, Borrow Pits, and Waste Sites for Efficient Offsite Material Movement
  • Specify Quantities of Materials to be Accepted or Removed at Points Along Corridor
  • Modify Haul Roads to Manage Flow of Cut and Fill Volumes
  • Automatically Apply Haul Ranges to Balanced Sections
  • Recalculate Mass Haul Analysis to Understand Changes to Mass Haul
  • Report on Analysis

Length: 12 hours (1.5 days)

Course Description: This course provides instruction on the use of the Site Takeoff tools available in Business Center- Heavy Construction Edition, including the Site Mass Haul Analysis Tools. This course is classroom-based.

Learning Objectives:

  • Import PDF images
  • Digitize Linework from a PDF
  • Understand Layer Categorizing and Layer Protection
  • Utilize the Material and Site Improvement Manager (MSIM)
  • Assign Site Improvements
  • Understand and Build Takeoff Surfaces
  • Utilize Takeoff Reporting
  • Create a Cut/Fill Map that Reflects the Difference Between Original Ground and Design Surfaces
  • Create Site Mass Haul Analysis to See Proposed Routes Between Cut/Fill Zones
  • Add Earthwork Sites and Incorporate them into the Mass Haul Analysis
  • Add Haul Roads to Incorporate into the Mass Haul Analysis
  • Generate and Interpret Site Mass Haul Report

SCS900 v3.5x Site and Road Stakeout with GNSS

Length: 24 hours (3 days)

Times: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Course Format: 60% Class Room, 40% Field

Prerequisite(s): Experience with general site construction and grade checking is recommended.

Course Description: This course provides instruction in the operation of SCS900 software using GNSS with a windows based mobile computer such as a TSC3 and is intended for construction contractor filed employees involved in grading, stakeout, topographic and volume surveys.  The course includes an introduction to Business Center software along with creation and transfer of files to and from Business Center to data collectors and machines.

  • Setting up a Base and Rover (GNSS)
  • Performing a Site Calibration
  • Performing Site and Site Feature Measurements
  • Performing Volume Measurements
  • Staking out Lines, Points, and Planes

  • Exporting Roads from Business Center to SCS900
  • Creating New Sites and Work Orders
